Roadtrip USA/Canada

Countries: USA and Canada

I want to get a couple of girl besties together, rent a ridiculous car like a kombi or something and then just take off on a wildly fun roadtrip across the States and Canada. I'd particularly want to pay attention to the nerdier side of things, hitting up ComicCons, visiting the Supernatural set - as well as just generally seeing the landscapes because they seem to differ so much from state to state, let alone between the two countries.

A lot of the posts on this website are about scattered, flippant things I want to see or do around the world. But some of them are in the same country, or are similarly themed, and
so I'd like to collate them into one trip. This page lists what those big trips, and when the time comes that I get around to actually planning them in practical details, they'll be available from the drop down menu.

BIG TRIPS

Hike New Zealand

Country: New Zealand

It's just across the pond and I've always wanted to go (it was always my suggest for our family holidays). The scenery looks truly breathtaking so I'd love to truly immerse myself in it and do an outdoorsy nature trail trip. Hiking and camping, the whole kit and kaboodle! And obviously checking out all of the Lord of the Rings sites!

Country: African continent

Haiti has carved a special niche in my heart since I first landed in the country. Despite being across the world in the Caribbean, I cant help but notice some similarities between Haiti and a lot of African cultures. I'd like to backpack throughout the continent and the various cultures within it to expand my knowledge, and educate myself on the similarities/differences.

Backpack Africa

Country: Italy

Date: May 2015

I'm heading back to Rome for the annual Supernatural Jus In Bello convention, but that only spans one weekend. Rome is one of my top holiday destinations because it's so full of culture but also so relaxing. And if I'm already in Italy, I may as well see some new parts of the beautiful country! So I'll be hanging around for a while longer on either side of the convention to fall in love with the country all over again.

Italian JIBCon6

Country: Haiti

Date: 2016

The focus of this trip is the 'More Than A Story' project that I'm creating. So I'll largely be based in Jacmel, Haiti, working with the ACFFC school. But I also really want to do some 'touristing' around Haiti, and seeing the real country beyond the snippets I've visited so far and the pictures the media choose to share.

Countries: South American continent

Yet another cultural hub I want to immerse myself in. I'm definitely a skeptic of the 'living like a local' trip, because by definition, if you're on a trip you have no intention of being a local, you're visiting the place. But I'd like to backpack South America like a friend of a local, getting deep into the countinent and seeing its ins and outs.

Country: Egypt

I've been drawn to Ancient Egyptian history for as long as I can remember, to the point where I want to see as much of the current country to better understand its past. A few years back I squeezed in a taste of Egypt and I've been dying to go back ever since. Seeing as the huge draw is the history of the place, I'd mostly go on official tours on this trip to maximise on the information I could gain.

Country: Australia

For all my desire to go travelling overseas, I absolutely love my country and think it is truly beautiful and unique. My older brother and a mate went roadtripping around Australia for a few months and I'd love to do the same. Do it the true blue Aussie style in a ute or a 4xDrive or something and just hit the road of this sunburnt country.

Backpack Asia

Countries: Asian continent

Asian culture is one of my absolute favourite things in this world - it's why I studied Japanese in High school (not that it got me anywhere). I'd love to backpack through a whole variety of Asian countries, experiencing that culture firsthand - particularly the food!

Countries: Greece, England, USA

As a future Drama teacher and travel lover, I'd love to implement a drama tour at whatever school I'll be working in. I know it's only a select number of schools that could provide such an opportunity for their kids, but if I end up in one that can, then I want to be ready to give those students a real hands on taste of theatre outside of Australia: Tracing it's historical routes in Greece, to arguably it's big Western take off in the English middle ages, to the current hotspot in New York's broadway.
